John Sevier Combined Cycle Plant - Rogersville, Tenn.
The John Sevier Combined Cycle Plant is located on the Holston River in Rogersville, Tenn., and is part of TVA’s commitment to providing cleaner energy to its customers.
The Kiewit team is providing general construction services for the 880-mega- watt combined cycle power plant with three GE 7FA.04 combustion turbines. The combustion turbines are capable of natural gas and fuel oil operation. Each combustion turbine has an exhaust bypass stack and diverter damper included to allow for simple cycle and combined cycle operation. Other project equipment includes three Nooter-Eriksen triple pressure heat recovery steam generators with duct firing on natural gas, a Toshiba steam turbine and four ABB generator step-up transformers.
To meet client needs and continue providing a reliable source of power through the transmission system, the project team followed strict deadlines. KPC accomplished the fastest 3x1 gas plant construction schedule in Kiewit Power Constructor’s (KPC) history while absorbing more than a 30 percent quantity growth throughout the project. KPC’s attention to detail, focus on maintaining the project schedule and sustaining an open relationship with TVA established a foundation of mutual trust between the companies.
