MINING
The San Miguel Mine is located near Christine, Texas. On January 1, 2011, Kiewit Mining Group became the provider of management services to mine and deliver approximately 3.3 million tons of lignite coal directly to the adjacent 400-MW San Miguel Electric Cooperative, Inc. power plant.
The Raglan mine is in one of the world`s most important nickel sulphide deposits. It is located in Nunavik, at the northern part of Quebec, in the vast peninsula of Ungava Bay, approximately 1800 km north of Montreal.
Lac de Gras Constructors, a Kiewit-led joint venture, completed three contracts from January 2000 to March 2003 to construct portions of this diamond mine south of the Arctic Circle. A major feature of the project was the 3.9-km. water retention dike that encircles the diamond deposits - the first dike of its kind constructed in Canada.
The Agrium Phosphate Mine is located near Soda Springs, Idaho. Kiewit Mining Group is providing contract mining services to provide 2.0 to 2.3 million tons of phosphate ore per year. The final ore is loaded into railcars for final delivery to the Conda Phosphate Plant.
